Join the Commute! We make it easy for students. To be a part of the “program” we just ask that you follow us on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter @sbcccommute and we trust that if you say your commuting sustainably, you are!

Student Incentives:

If you follow us then you will be considered part of of our program! We will post announcements and you will be invited to monthly events, and entered in to a random monthly raffle if you #SBCCcommute with a picture of yourself commuting on Instagram:

  • BUS: Students enrolled at SBCC qualify for a free bus pass. Come to Office of Student life and pick up the stickers and put on your current student ID.

  • STUDENT MONTHLY RAFFLE PRIZE ON INSTAGRAM:
    • One random student will win $100 on their ID cards or two may win $50, winnners are picked from Instagram #sbcccommute participation. To win you must be a current SBCC student and follow @sbcccommute on social media, and have tagged a photo of your method of sustainable commute or attended an event with hashtag #sbcccommute or #noSOV or #commutesustainably.

Sustainable Modes of Transportation

  • Carpool/vanpool
  • Scooter/motorcycle
  • Bicycle, skate, walk
  • Any form of mass transit or ride share (bus/train/SmartRide carpool matching/others)

Lyft, taxi, drop-off non-carpool, or other hired services are not considered sustainable commuting.

Earn back your parking permit! Carpool Reward

SBCC Commute | Incentive Plan | StudentsEarn your semester parking permit fee back:

  1. Follow us on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter @SBCCcommute
  2. Carpool 10 times during the first 8 weeks of the semester and keep each of the daily carpool slips provided by security/kiosk (this is your proof)
  3. Complete this permit refund form to register for the refund
  4. Bring your 10 carpool slips to the Security Office (located under the bridge on Loma Alta) by the end of the 9th week of the semester. The refund will be credited to your student identification card at the amount you purchased your semester permit for. Daily permits purchased at machines are not applicable to the refund offer.

Shower Facilities and Lockers

Shower facilities are located in the Physical Education building, please email commute@sbcc.edu if you would like access. *You must:
– be participating in the current SBCC incentive program
– be a current student or employees to get shower access
– report your daily commuting as applicable if you are staff
– bring a form of ID and a combination lock to the women’s equipment room, 2nd level of sports pavilion to be issued a locker and gain an access code. [/fusion_text]

SmartRide.org: FREE carpool matching and alternative transit information and tools

Traffic Solutions Emergency Ride Home Program:

Who’s Eligible

  • If you register on SmartRide.org; and
  • If you carpool, vanpool, use transit, bicycle, or walk to work on occasion or regularly; and
  • If you use a qualifying mode on the day the Emergency Ride Home is needed.

What trips are eligible?

Unplanned personal emergencies, such as:

  • Personal or family illness or injury
  • A family crisis
  • Your carpool or vanpool is unavailable for its USUAL schedule
